阿莫林在曼联始终难以保持稳定，上赛季率队仅获第15名，还在欧联杯决赛中负于托特纳姆热刺。尽管本赛季略有起色，但他与部分球员以及最终与俱乐部高层的冲突导致了他的下课。

外界普遍认为，曼联将在夏季经过慎重考虑后任命正式主帅。格拉斯纳被认为是候选名单中的一员。

格拉斯纳很可能仍会与曼联帅位联系在一起，鲁尼表示：“我觉得现在的情况是，他非常后悔两周前没有宣布自己要离开，否则他可能有机会得到曼联的帅位。”
“我认为他很沮丧，因为如果他两周前就站出来说赛季末要走，也许曼联会去找他谈一谈。”
