北京时间1月23日，据名记Fischer报道，消息人士透露，若雄鹿队球星字母哥进入交易市场，勇士队计划在今年休赛期全力参与关于他的交易谈判；同时，球队也在探讨另一种可能性——当詹姆斯于7月1日成为完全自由球员后，促成他与斯蒂芬-库里联手。勇士将这两位超级巨星视为足以改变球队未来走向的潜在引援人选。
库里与詹姆斯的关系，早已今非昔比。2015至2018年，两人曾连续四年在总决赛舞台上针锋相对，如今二人的关系已大幅缓和。2024年巴黎奥运会上，两人携手为美国队夺得金牌，赛场之上展现出的默契，让外界看到了这对昔日宿敌联手的巨大潜力——而这样的搭档组合，在过去曾被认为是绝无可能的。
库里的合同将持续至2026-27赛季，且目前竞技状态丝毫未见下滑。勇士队相信，无论让库里搭档字母哥还是詹姆斯，都有望延长球队的争冠窗口期。
对于此前遭遇前交叉韧带撕裂的巴特勒，勇士队目前仍不考虑将其交易。消息人士称，球队计划全力支持这位老将完成康复。自去年2月加盟勇士以来，巴特勒在更衣室中扮演的领袖角色，以及他本人展现出的对球队的归属感，都深受球队管理层认可。尤其是在球队正应对乔纳森-库明加风波的当下，巴特勒的存在显得更为重要。
勇士队方面表示，只有当一份“超巨短名单”上的球员明确将金州列为心仪下家时，才会考虑交易巴特勒。据消息透露，球队对于用巴特勒交易达拉斯独行侠队的戴维斯一事并无兴趣。
客观而言，勇士队预计最早要到休赛期，才有可能争取得到字母哥或詹姆斯。除非有真正的顶级球星主动寻求与库里联手，否则球队不会轻易启动涉及巴特勒的交易方案。
其实早在2024年交易截止日，勇士就曾与詹姆斯的交易传闻产生关联。当时德雷蒙德-格林率先向球队老板和管理层提出这一想法，随后还与同时代理自己和詹姆斯的经纪人里奇-保罗进行了沟通。
勇士老板乔-拉科布曾就此事与湖人老板珍妮-巴斯进行过交流。巴斯明确表示，湖人队无意交易詹姆斯，但同时建议勇士队可以直接与詹姆斯的经纪团队洽谈相关事宜。
詹姆斯及其经纪人保罗当时均表态，更倾向于留守湖人队。湖人总经理佩林卡也证实，球队绝不会交易这位球队核心。2024年休赛期，詹姆斯与湖人签下一份1+1合同，合同中包含不可交易条款。不过随着湖人在上个休赛期拒绝为其提供续约合同，詹姆斯当前的合同已进入到期年，他的未来去向也因此变得扑朔迷离。
此外，勇士队主教练史蒂夫-科尔的合同将在本赛季结束后到期，但他本人对于留队持开放态度，希望能陪伴库里走完职业生涯的最后几年。
